Welcome Message

Thank you for your interest in Bolsover District Council.

This is a truly exciting time for the district, as it sets out to reinvent itself. We have an impressive and well set out local development plan that aims to deliver a range of projects designed to facilitate Bolsover's growth and contribute towards the long term vision for the district.

Superbly located on the outskirts of Derbyshire and strategically positioned near Nottingham, Derby, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham, Bolsover district has the potential to be a significant regional destination. Our aim is to make Bolsover district a great place to live and visit. We want residents to feel this is their permanent home; safe, clean, and green. Residents will care for their environment; enjoy where they live and what the district offers. It will be a prosperous and healthy place with opportunities for all. Employment and incomes will equal the East Midlands average and businesses will prosper. The community will be strengthened and be more inclusive. Services will respond to the needs of young and old. We will show the way with strong civic leadership, which is democratically accountable and represents residents' interests.

But we can't achieve this on our own. We will work more and more with the members of the Bolsover Local Strategic Partnership, Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Police, Derbyshire County Primary Care Trust, voluntary groups and the business community - to ensure that all our efforts and resources are co-ordinated. We are confident that together our vision can be realised and Bolsover district can become an even more desirable place in which to live, work and play.

These substantial growth plans, combined with major renewal and growth of the existing district housing stock, infrastructure and business base, will ensure that Bolsover district will now provide an exciting opportunity for a development and regeneration professional who seeks a fulfilling career move.

To ensure the delivery of this, we are now seeking to appoint a Director of Development, with significant commercial experience, to take responsibility for the implementation of the Council's physical and economical development programme. This role requires real leadership and a clear sense of direction, with a strong drive to deliver. The Director of Development will need to command respect at the highest level with a range of complex stakeholders as well as managing expectations of Senior Officers and Elected Members alike.

If you have a track record of leading the delivery of comparable physical regeneration and property development programmes then we look forward to hearing from you.
